Carmarthen Youth Project (Dr Mz)
The Project in a Nutshell:
Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to award a grant to Carmarthen Youth Project to support the Grow It Project — a community garden and allotment initiative designed to empower young people through food growing, cooking, and environmental education. The funding will cover the rental cost of the allotment garden for a full year, alongside seeds, plants, and essential maintenance, ensuring this vital green space continues to thrive and benefit young people and the wider community.
Why This Matters:
In the heart of Carmarthen, Dr Mz provides a lifeline to hundreds of young people, many of whom face social disadvantage, poverty, rural isolation, or lack of support at home. The Grow It Project gives them more than a garden — it offers skills, confidence, connection, and a sense of purpose. Young people grow food, learn to cook healthy meals, and take home produce to support their families. The project also tackles food poverty, promotes wellbeing, encourages biodiversity, and reduces food waste. Accessible to all youth groups at Dr Mz, the garden is a safe, welcoming space where young people can relax, reflect, and grow — in every sense of the word. We’re proud to support a project that places young people at the centre of environmental action, community wellbeing, and personal development.
