The Project in a Nutshell:

Community Cinema & Chat is a monthly event providing free afternoon cinema sessions with refreshments for local residents. Held at the centrally located Dunvant Social Centre, it offers easy access and parking. The aim is to create a social gathering space since the nearest cinema is over five miles away in the city center.

Why This Matters:

The sessions foster connections among local residents, particularly senior citizens, by providing a welcoming and inclusive environment. This strengthens relationships and builds a sense of community, and by offering a free, accessible event, the project supports the health and wellbeing of local seniors, especially in light of the cost-of-living and energy crises. It lifts spirits and encourages social interaction, reducing feelings of isolation.
