Local businesses working together to give back

Collage of indoor bowls club members in action. On the left, a woman in a blue and white team shirt gestures while standing on the green. The top right image shows several male players preparing to bowl, one of whom is visually impaired and being supported. The bottom right features a man rolling a yellow bowl, while the bottom left shows another player focusing on his delivery. Gateway to Gower Community Shed

The Project in a Nutshell

Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to support Gateway to Gower Community Shed, a thriving, inclusive group providing social connection and practical activities for residents across Gower and Swansea. This project funds a dust extraction system to make indoor woodworking activities safe and accessible year-round, allowing members to work with larger tools regardless of the weather.

Our funding ensures the shed can expand its workshop, enabling more people to learn, share, and enjoy woodworking in a safe, welcoming environment.

Why This Matters

Woodworking is more than just a hobby — it builds skills, confidence, and most importantly, connection between people of all backgrounds. As the first and only Shed in Gower, and one of the most inclusive in Swansea, Gateway to Gower Community Shed plays a vital role in combating isolation and creating purpose.

By funding essential safety equipment, Swansea Bay Foundation is helping this growing community space to continue offering free, meaningful activities where everyone — regardless of experience — can contribute, learn, and feel part of something bigger.
