The Project in a Nutshell:
Swansea Bay Foundation is delighted to support GreenspaceSOS CIC, a community interest company providing free garden relief services to vulnerable people and places across Swansea. Their work includes clearing and transforming outdoor spaces that have become overgrown or inaccessible, restoring them into safe, usable environments for those most in need.
With the help of our funding, GreenspaceSOS CIC has been able to purchase essential equipment — enabling them to expand their reach, respond to referrals quickly, and continue their mission of improving outdoor spaces for individuals and communities across the city.
Why This Matters:
For many vulnerable people — including the elderly, disabled, and families facing life-limiting conditions — an overgrown garden can feel like a barrier rather than a retreat. GreenspaceSOS CIC restores these outdoor spaces, giving people access to nature, improving mental wellbeing, and even helping to prevent issues like eviction or isolation.
Their growing partnerships with local charities, including Tŷ Hafan and Keep Wales Tidy, further extend the impact of their work — from private gardens to community growing spaces.
