Loughor Centurions

The Project in a Nutshell

Swansea Bay Foundation is pleased to support the Loughor Centurions’ Emerging Blues project — a grassroots initiative dedicated to increasing opportunities for young people to get active, build skills, and feel part of a thriving community. Based at Cae Duke playing fields, the project offers free weekly touch rugby sessions for under-18s, aiming to promote physical wellbeing, confidence, and leadership development.

Our funding has helped cover the cost of equipment, facility hire, and participation in the Ospreys Touch Rugby League, as well as training courses in coaching and refereeing. These opportunities ensure all young people can participate, regardless of financial background.

Why This Matters:

This project is about far more than rugby — it’s about giving young people a chance to belong, lead, and succeed. By removing financial barriers and investing in skills development, the Emerging Blues initiative empowers participants to stay active, make friends, and even pursue future pathways in coaching or officiating.

The Centurions have grown from a small local team into a vibrant community sports group with over 100 members. Their commitment to inclusion, opportunity, and community spirit is exactly the kind of grassroots development Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to champion.
