Milford Youth Matters

The Project in a Nutshell:

Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to award a grant to Milford Youth Matters for their Friday Football initiative — a proactive community programme that uses sport to engage young people aged 11+ in Milford Haven and the surrounding areas. The funding will support weekly Friday night football sessions, as well as intergenerational community matches and celebration events designed to bring people together, promote wellbeing, and offer young people safe, positive opportunities to grow and connect.

Why This Matters:

In a town where six of the eight wards are among Pembrokeshire’s most deprived, Milford Youth Matters is doing vital work to create opportunity, reduce isolation, and provide pathways to wellbeing for young people.
Through sport, this project builds confidence, self-efficacy, and positive social connections — while helping to prevent anti-social behaviour by offering something fun, accessible, and meaningful. It’s more than just football: it’s a platform for mentoring, volunteering, emotional support, and community pride. We’re proud to support a project that sits at the heart of its community, giving young people the tools, encouragement, and space to believe in themselves and their future.
