Penlan Pit
The Project in a Nutshell
Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to support Penlan Pit Men’s Shed, a grassroots community group that offers a welcoming space for local men to connect, create, and support one another. The shed is member-led and open three days a week, providing access to woodworking, metalwork, a greenhouse, and an allotment.
Our funding has helped the group purchase essential new tools and equipment — including a bench sander, lathe tools, and a toolbox — allowing members to work safely and continue producing creative, practical projects.
Why This Matters
Penlan Pit is more than a workshop — it’s a lifeline. Many members are living with serious health conditions such as cancer, brain injuries, and mental health challenges. The shed offers purpose, companionship, and a chance to learn and build together in a supportive environment.
By backing this project, Swansea Bay Foundation is helping to maintain a space where men can find friendship, build confidence, and improve their wellbeing through shared activity. It’s a shining example of how community-led spaces can make a real difference in people’s lives.
