Sketty Community Outreach
The Project in a Nutshell:
Sketty Community Lunch Club has sought funding to sustain a volunteer-led monthly lunch club in Sketty for the next year. The project aims to offer a cold lunch, entertainment, and a welcoming environment to up to 50 local people, primarily focusing on older individuals and those with learning or physical disabilities.
Why This Matters:
Community Development: The lunch club fosters inclusivity, connecting local residents and building relationships. Attendees express feeling valued, forming friendships that extend beyond the monthly gathering. This aligns with the goal of creating an inclusive community where everyone feels welcomed.
Caring for Vulnerable People: Addressing social isolation, the lunch club enhances the well-being of attendees, especially the elderly and socially isolated. By providing a regular gathering, the project promotes social inclusion, preventing and alleviating the effects of social exclusion. The focus on companionship is key to improving mental well-being, and continued funding will enable more individuals to benefit from these crucial connections.
