Swansea Troopers Basketball Team

The Project in a Nutshell:

Swansea Bay Foundation is pleased to support Swansea Troopers Basketball Club with a small grant to help them towards expanding their impact into new communities across West Wales. This funding will support the launch of U12 mixed sessions in areas such as Pontarddulais, Penyrheol, and Llanelli — locations that include areas of significant deprivation. The grant will cover the cost of training new coaches and officials, purchasing essential equipment, and hiring courts to get the sessions started.

    Why This Matters:

Swansea Troopers have already made a huge impact through their sessions in Morriston, helping young people gain confidence, build resilience, and feel part of a supportive team. Many players come from diverse backgrounds and have previously struggled to engage with more mainstream sports. This outreach project is designed to replicate that success in new areas — offering children aged 10 to 12 a chance to stay active, make friends, and grow both on and off the court. It also brings families together by building a wider support network around the club. By backing this project, we’re investing in the power of sport to transform lives, build inclusive communities, and provide opportunities for young people to flourish.
