Local businesses working together to give back

Waunarlwydd Community Association

The Project in a Nutshell:

The Waunarlwydd Community Association aims to develop and maintain underutilised green spaces in Waunarlwydd. The project focuses on enhancing these areas to benefit the emotional wellbeing, fitness, and physical health of local residents of all ages and abilities.

    Why This Matters:

The project will benefit residents of a large social housing estate, including families with limited disposable income, single and vulnerable individuals, and those experiencing isolation. Enhancing these green spaces will encourage community involvement and improve mental health.  This project aims to connect local people, strengthen relationships, and build an inclusive community where everyone feels valued. It addresses social divides that have grown, especially post-pandemic, and promotes communal activities like litter picking and shared projects. By developing green spaces and woodlands, the project contributes to a vibrant, green, and sustainable local environment. Plans include community meeting spaces, picnic areas, wildflower and vegetable beds, and accessible pathways, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
