West Glamorgan Visually Impaired and Disability Bowls Club

The Project in a Nutshell

Swansea Bay Foundation is proud to support the West Glamorgan Visually Impaired and Disability Bowls Club, a long-established charity based in Swansea that has evolved from a specialist club for blind and partially sighted bowlers into a fully inclusive space for players with all types of disabilities.

Our funding is helping the club purchase essential equipment — such as bowling arms, monoculars, lifters, mats and gloves — ensuring every member can participate safely, confidently, and comfortably in the game they love as they head into the new indoor season.

Why This Matters

Many disabled individuals experience isolation, vulnerability, and barriers to sport — and inclusive clubs like this offer a lifeline. Through the power of bowls, members gain more than just physical activity: they experience friendship, skill-building, and a sense of belonging.

By equipping the club with the specialist tools they need, Swansea Bay Foundation is helping ensure every player can feel welcomed, supported and empowered — regardless of ability. This is about dignity, inclusion, and the joy of being part of a team.
